![]() ![]() Campers and staff can wear their team colors each day to show their spirit. Color War will be Wednesday, August 11, Thursday, August 12, and Friday, August 13. Using a eight-foot by four-foot sheet of plywood as a canvas, those summer-camp murals brought color, imagery, and size to stories and ideas otherwise confined to books and my imagination. The generals and lieutenants for this year’s Color War were then announced and we are looking forward to an exciting 3 days of activities. But nothing could compare to the colossal works that were my first encounter with Jewish art. There was BLUE AND ORANGE confetti paper flying everywhere!!!! WELCOME TO COLOR WAR 2021!!!!!! At the same time, each group leader opened the confetti popper for everyone to see what team their group is on. We finally opened the treasure chest, and it was filled with Pirate and Western items and a brown bag for each group with a confetti popper. ![]() Soon everyone realized what the coins said: C O L O R W A R !!!!!!!! There was special writing on the coins that they couldn’t read and they needed the campers and staff to help them. We all gathered at the field for the Western Day Dance Party at 1:15 and started the party off by dancing to a Park Shore favorite: the Cotton Eye Joe! EVERYONE joined in the fun!! Then the Hoe Down Throw Down started playing, but suddenly it was interrupted by a PIRATE SONG and PIRATES came sailing in holding a blue flag from the main lot!!!!!!! The Pirates said they found land and will find the buried treasure!!! A few minutes later…… COWBOYS came riding in on ATV’S holding an orange flag and circled around the Pirates!!! The Cowboys said that this is their land and the treasure belongs to them!! The Pirates and Cowboys started arguing which caused a little tension!! Their fight was broken up and both groups realized they both had gold coins. The Juniors and Seniors throughout the day had a GREAT time on the Cowboy Combo Bounce House and enjoyed playing the Wild West game! A mysterious treasure chest was placed in front of the stage, which made many campers curious. WOW! What an exciting Western Day!!!!! As the campers arrived, they heard country music playing and saw western-themed decorations all around the field. ![]()
